Every time Ryan and I go out of town, our dear friend Kate watches over Coodie. Now that we have 2 cats, she is taking care of both of them. Luckily she lives relatively close and works right down the road and the cats just adore her. Kate knows our house inside and out and has cat-sat several times so she really needs no direction. So, please tell me why I always feel the need to provide such detailed directions?? Perhaps, it is the corporate people-manager in me but Ryan thought my last catsitting note was so funny that I should share it on the blog. So, here it is in it's unedited form (I only added photos for the visual effect)...throwing myself right under the bus for the sake of entertainment!...
Hi there -
OK, here is the deal with the cats:
The most important item to mention is that Gus' food cannot be eaten by Coodie (due to his urinary tract issue) so, Gus' food needs to be put away above the fridge after he is fed!
Gus:
His food bowls are above the fridge and are only brought down when he eats.
He eats 1/2 can of wet food (found in the 2nd drawer down in the kitchen cart) morning and evening. In the evening, the food is in the fridge (from the morning), so once you put the food in the bowl, it will need to be heated up for 9 seconds in the microwave so it isn't too cold for the little guy!! You can fill his dry food as needed and that is in the kitchen cart behind the doors.
Coodie:
Food bowl is in the same place as always!
He can only eat the dry food in the plastic container in the 2nd drawer down on the kitchen cart as this is prescription food. You can leave this out all the time. He has been more of a grazer lately so not very concerned about how much/when. Generally, a 1/4 cup in the am and 2 1/4 cups in the pm.
Coodie's eyes: He needs his prescription eye meds 3x a day - just a small squeeze worth of cream in his eye. Once in there, squeeze his eyelid shut for a second. It is best to hold him between your legs (squat over him as he is on the floor so he cannot back up) and then squeeze in his eye with one hand as you hold open his eye with the other hand. Although, Ryan has had success holding him in his lap but he is a squirmy guy!
Litter:
I will clean the boxes before I go, so just need to scoop the poops and peeps 1x a day. Bags are in the closet to the right of the sink.
...
Feel free to have food/wine and whatever you can find! All of my wine is now downstairs in the basement. Make yourself at home! Gus doesn't really try to get out but Coodie is more insistent than ever and even got out and even jumped on a chipmunk recently!
Ryan's bonsai trees:
Hose is in front of unit #5 and these can be watered 1x a day.
Thank you so much for everything!!! We really appreciate it!!
